Welcome to the Library

Club Read History

Since the Dion's Club Read yearly state-wide competition for schools began four years ago, Navajo students have won the contest three times!  Students are required to read 6 books to qualify for the first set of prizes and six more to earn additional prizes.  This last year, 21 out of 27 classes had 100% participation in Club Read and earned a class pizza party that Dion's hand-delivered!

How Navajo Won

Navajo turned in over 400 reading logs which beat out every other school in New Mexico.  Orbit and the folks from Dion's came Wednesday, September 20th to celebrate with staff and students.  A big debt of gratitude is owed to all the teachers who supported and encouraged their students in the competition.  Way to go, Osos!!

Come On A Library Safari

The Jungle Book Connection

Adventure into the jungles of India with Mowgli, from The Jungle Book, as we explore the library and learn about the tropical rain forest.  We'll venture into the wilds of fiction and wind our way through the vast forests of nonfiction.

Importance of the Rain Forest

During our travels we'll discover facts such as over 20% of the world's oxygen is produced by the Amazon rain forest as well as many plants that produce life-saving medicines.

Don't Wake the Tiger!

But, beware, a sleeping tiger reminds us to use our "0 inch" voices lest we waken him.  And, really, who wants to do that? Instead, we'll relax and follow Baloo's advice to "forget about all our worries"  and only bring the bare necessities with us.  What's a bare necessity?  A book, of course.
