Welcome to the Health Room

Darlene Elliott, MSN, RN, is a native New Mexican born in a small rural community by Ruidoso, NM. She has been a nurse for 38 years and has worked in various interesting areas of nursing. She previously has worked at Freedom High School and Evening School as a School Nurse Practitioner. She is especially fond of working with children and families and looks forward to doing all she can to improve the health of our students.
She has two grown daughters and two grandsons. Her hobbies usually involve her family, camping, watching the grandsons play sports, reading, gardening and traveling to new places. 
She looks forward to working at Navajo Elementary School.

Health Screenings


The Health Room also conducts vision and hearing screenings at school. The Health Room staff will screen all Pre-k, Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade students in the following areas:

  • Vision
  • Hearing
  • Height
  • Weight

Parents will be notified if there is any need for further attention in these areas.
